Women in Wholesale funds mental health training

Nine wholesale sector employees have trained to become qualified mental health first aiders, thanks to Women in Wholesale.

The industry representatives from wholesale, buying group and FMCG businesses have completed the certification, which is accredited by The Royal Society for Public Health and the Department of Heath.

The qualification is the mental health equivalent of a physical first aid qualification and has taught the group to recognised the warning signs of poor mental health and how to offer support.

The chance to offer the training has been achieved thanks to the “inspiring and invaluable support” Women in Wholesale has received from brands across the sector in 2021.

One of the group to take the qualification, Becky Flood (pictured) – a National Account Manager at PepsiCo – said: ”

“The course was fantastic and it was great to meet so many amazing people in my industry. I’m pleased that my direct team will have someone to talk to if they ever need support.”

The training is another example of how Women in Wholesale is aiming to support the wholesale sector and its commitment to making it better, more inclusive place to work.

And the qualification is something people are proud to shout about.

“It [the course] was really informative, helpful and great to meet other ladies from the industry – even if virtual,” said Confex Marketing and HR Director, Jess Douglas.

“I have added my Mental Health First Aid certification to my email signature and LinkedIn profile, and look forward to helping colleagues going forward.”
