Sugro celebrates latest conference and trade show
Buying group Sugro brought its members and supply partners together for its latest conference and trade show, with more than 200 attending, and also hails strong growth in 2023 to date
The trade show, where substantial business was achieved setting the group up for another successful year of double-digit growth. was followed by the conference including speaker presentations.
Wholesaler members and suppliers were then recognised for their hard work at the group’s awards ceremony.
In the member wholesale awards, Youings Wholesale was crowned the winner in the Retail Member of the Year category. Other winners included Morris & Son Ltd for Environmental & Sustainability, while the Digital Innovation Award was won by R&I Jones and the Specialist Wholesale Award taken by Forrest Fresh Foods Ltd. The Community Champion Award went to R A Trading whilst Nasco UK Ltd received the Group Rising Star Award.
In the supplier awards, AG Barr won Soft Drinks Supplier of the Year, Nestle UK received the Confectionery Supplier of the Year award; Crisps and Snacks Supplier of the Year was awarded to KP Snacks; Premier Foods won Grocery Supplier of the Year; and Product of the Year went to Mondelez International for launching Cadbury Twirl Caramel.

The trade show was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Group with our members and Supply Partners – well done to the winners of the awards.”
Sugro’s Managing Director Emma Senior also added: “This was my first year attending the Sugro Trade Show as MD and I was delighted to see such a fantastic attendance. It was very rewarding to see many new suppliers and members, along with our Business Partners. A huge thank you to our presenters at the conference and many congratulations to the members and suppliers who won awards – all very well deserved. “
Building on 18 years of consecutive growth, Sugro has reported strong results for 2023 to date against the same period in 2022, with growth of +31% up to the end of the first quarter. This is on the back of a very successful 2022 with Sugro finishing the year in growth of +16%.
