Unitas customers support next generation
Ten schools provided with free sports equipment following retail competition
A group of 10 schools have been awarded with a horde of new sports equipment following a competition run by Unitas.
The buying groups asked customers of Today’s, Day-Today and Lifestyle Express fascia stores to nominate a local school to be in with a chance to grab a share of £2,000 to spend on new apparatus, with each winner receiving £200.
The promotion was live throughout the summer months across all Unitas’s fascia stores, with retailers given window posters, shelf talkers and flyers to promote the competition to customers and to generate interest within their community.
Schools from as far north as Scotland down to Dagenham in Essex received prizes, with the winning head teachers understandably delighted to get a boost to their coffers.
“We’re really pleased with our new sports equipment and the children are making great use of it already,” said Christine Boyle, who is head teacher at St Bernadette’s Primary School in Motherwell. “It was a pleasant surprise to learn we had been selected for £200 of free sport equipment.”
The additional funding highlights the importance Unitas puts on supporting the communities they serve, especially with funding in education always extremely tight.
A spokesperson from another winner, John Spendluffe Technology College in Alford near Skegness. “On behalf of the PE department and students at John Spendluffe Technology College we’d like to extend our thanks primarily to the person who nominated us for this prize and also to Unitas Wholesale for the fantastic equipment which is now being enjoyed by more than 600 students.”
