New Managing Director for Sugro named
Former Nisa CEO Neil Turton appointed to lead buying group
Former Nisa CEO Neil Turton is returning to the wholesale channel following his appointment as the new MD of Sugro. He will join the buying group on Monday 3 September 2018.
Turton will replace Philip Jenkins who spent 17 years at the helm of the confectionery and snacks buying group.
Turton spent more than 23 years with Nisa, seven of which have been as CEO. During this time, he led the revamp of Nisa’s own brand products, introduced new store formats and successfully grew the business’s turnover from £989 million to £1.6 billion.
After Nisa, he spent time with HIM International and My Local, before taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer with Co-operatives UK in February last year.
Sugro members have a combined turnover of £1.1bn and approximately 16,000 independent retail customers, 2,600 of which participate in the group’s retail club.
