Spanish addition provides continental flair
Fine foods specialist becomes latest FWD wholesale member
FWD’s latest new member has a decidedly continental flavour to it, after Spanish fine foods specialist Mevalco signed up.
The Spanish wholesaler and distributor sources the best and most authentic Iberian products to bring to the UK and has grown from a humble farmers’ market stall in Stroud in 2007 to become a premium supplier for chefs, farm shops and delicatessens across the country.
Headed up by co-founder David Menendez and Justin Slawson from Cheese Cellar Company, Mevalco has doubled its turnover in the last year alone, and with new warehousing and logistics situated in Avonmouth and has ambitious plans for the future.
The company’s award-winning product range is unique and based on super-premium ingredients sources from artisanal producers across Spain.
Every product is carefully selected for its sustainable and consistent production, and as well as quality, flavour and value, Mevalco supports rural communities by finding new markets for the ingredients that comes off the land using traditional farming methods and products created over many generations.
FWD Chief Executive James Bielby said: “We’re delighted to welcome Mevalco into the FWD family and look forward to working with them and sharing their experience as a fast-growing specialist distributor with the rest of the wholesale community.”
