Redford’s post-Caterforce venture announced
Ex-Caterforce Managing Director Nick Redford has resurfaced in a new position – as co-founder of specialist food procurement support business.
Redford rocked the foodservice buying group by announcing he was stepping down mid-way through last year and has since been replaced by Gary Mullineux, with the intrigue about his next career step ending with the launch of Arete Procurement Solutions.
The former Caterforce supremo has teamed with Warren Hamer, a global category director for protein at Sodexo, for the new business that starts trying on 1 March.
It’s not the first time Hamer and Redford have worked together, with the pair combining at Makro before going their separate ways prior to Booker’s takeover of the business in 2013.
“It’s an exciting time for the industry but succeeding in foodservice can be down to fine margins,” said Redford.
“Having an in-depth knowledge of procurement and supply chains will allow us to provide sound commercial solutions. Our team will be dedicated to ensuring our clients are equipped to deal with ever-changing business challenges.”
Among the services Arete offers are ongoing food procurement support, category strategy and range management and own-brand development across key categories.
“Following a sustained period of food inflation, it is imperative that food businesses continually review their procurement process to ensure they are always getting best value,” added Hamer.
“Nick and I have the knowledge, networks and know-how to ensure our clients are sourcing the best possible products at the most competitive prices.”
