Unitas’s John Baines set to retire in 2022
Unitas Trading Director John Baines has announced he’s stepping down and retiring next year.
Long-serving Baines has been a pivotal part of the group as it has developed for nearly three decades and will call time on his career in May 2022.
Baines first joined the buying group when he took a role with Nisa/Today’s in 1994 and retained his position after Today’s and Landmark merged to become Unitas in 2018.
“I’ve spent many enjoyable years working in the wholesale sector and have made many friends along the way,” said Baines. “However, it’s now time for me to spend more quality time with my family.”
Baines’ departure will be felt by his colleagues, especially those who worked closely with him for several years – not least Managing Director John Kinney.
“I’ve worked with John since I joined Today’s back in 2011,” said Kinney.
“John has been instrumental in the formation of Unitas and I fully respect John’s wishes to retire and thank him for the support he will continue to provide while we recruit his replacement.”
