Brakes food donations to feed Liverpool families
Families struggling to put food on the table this Christmas are receiving some festive joy thanks to an initiative supported by Brakes.
The foodservice wholesaler is getting behind a Great British Menu star Dave Critchley, as the Lu Ban head chef creates special Christmas dinner boxes to share with 200 families across Liverpool.
Critchley and his team will provide the ingredients for a top-class Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, as well as providing step-by-step cooking instructions.
Brakes is donating food to support the initiative, which is the latest in a long line of projects Critchley has done to support families in Liverpool since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
“When Dave reached out to me, I was delighted that we could help,” said Brakes Account Manager, John Mitchell.
“He’s done such a fantastic job in helping our community and is an inspiration to those around him. We’re proud to have played a small part in making this possible.”
Critchley’s WellFed project has made a significant impact across Liverpool and is about more than simply food.
“Providing the Christmas dinner boxes is designed not only to ease the burden on families facing financial difficulties, but also to provide a sense of normality,” added Critchley.
“They can cook a great meal and enjoy it together. This year has been a tough time for some many people, so we’ve tried to do our bit to help.”
