Parfetts at the double at Unitas awards night

Parfetts celebrated a double success at Unitas Wholesale’s awards ceremony last week – with the business and Managing Director, Greg Suszczenia receiving recognition.

The award winners were announced at Unitas’s annual awards dinner on Wednesday 9 March at Exhibition Centre Liverpool, alongside the buying group’s trade show.

Wholesalers and suppliers were recognised at the event – the first of its type for Unitas since the Covid-19 pandemic began – with entries subject to a selection criteria that included Unitas’s supplier council to finalise the shortlist.

Parfetts took home the Retail Member of the Year award and Suszczenia won the Special Recognition for Services to Wholesale gong.

Elsewhere, Lomond Foods won the Environmental & Sustainability Award, United Wholesale (Scotland) clinched the Award for Digital Innovation, and Wanis International Foods triumphed in the Standard/Specialist Wholesale category. MJ Baker Foodservice, subject of a recent acquisition by fellow Unitas member Kitwave, was Foodservice Member of the Year 2021.

The other winners on the night were won by Small Beer’s Carl Stubbs as Members’ Employee of the Year (Rising Star), Wild Leisure Group as On-Trade Member of the Year, and Day Today, N B Supersaver in Airdrie was named Symbol Store of the Year.

As well as an evening of celebrations, attendees raised more than £17,500 for Unitas’s charity partner, Bluebell Wood, and the Ukraine Emergency Disaster Appeal.
