The new academic year is now well underway bringing with it shiny shoes, new notepads, fresh thinking and, I hope, a sense of positivity and optimism for the weeks and months ahead.
As FWD Chair Dawood Pervez rightly points out on page 10, now is also the time to look to our new Labour Government with great expectation. As ministers return from their summer break, there is plenty of work to be done, not least on the big issues currently facing our sector. From the uncertainty surrounding the Tobacco and Vapes Bill to the Deposit Return Scheme, Extended Produce Responsibility and HFSS regulations, the only thing that is crystal clear is that we need clarity. Thankfully, FWD is championing the sector, as always, and will keep us up to date with developments. Watch this space…
As well as looking ahead, this issue is also a reflective one as the Wadhwani family clocks up 60 years in business. Evolving from a single London store to becoming one of the UK’s leading speciality wholesalers, Wanis International Foods has an incredible story to tell, and you can read all about it on pages 14-17.
Plus, in this decidedly autumnal issue, there are plenty of tricks (and treats, of course) to drive sales opportunities in depot and online so keep reading.
Until next month…
