Buying groups: Change and challenge – NBC

December brings with it the opportunity to pause (briefly) and reflect on the lessons learnt throughout the year. Here, NBC shares its highs and lows of 2024

Supplier support proved to be one of the year’s highlights for buying group NBC

Once again we have had an interesting, challenging but successful year and as we get closer to the end of the year, we want to highlight a few of our supplier partners to illustrate how our values are being adopted and providing benefits to our suppliers, members and shareholders.

Our goal at NBC is simple: to work collaboratively with our members and supplier partners. But statements like this need hard work and commitment to turn them into a reality, and that reality is commercial benefits to everyone in the supply chain.

“There are three specific brands and companies that we wish to highlight, thank and celebrate our joint successes with,” says Elenie Abbott, consortium trading manager.

“These are Capri-Sun, Huel and Premier Foods. These companies and their brands have worked with us to help shape their route to market, find new distribution points and grow their share of established markets.

“NBC, in conjunction with our centralised warehousing and logistics solution NDN, has worked closely with our contacts to find the best possible solution that can unlock the commercial benefits of growing sales, delivering supply chain savings and improving credit risk. As a result of this collaborative approach, all three companies have achieved commercial success with the group.”

CLEAR ON THE BENEFITS

Capri-Sun’s Alistair Wharton says: “Since we started trading in March, our sales through NBC have grown consistently each period. We have surpassed all expectations, and the trading members have been engaged and keen to collaborate with us.

“The team have been efficient and positive to work alongside. This allows time for us to focus on driving end-user engagement to develop business further when ordinarily members might not be able to meet MOQ criteria. The platform has been laid in 2024 and we are looking forward to more future growth in 2025.”

George Markham, Huel, says: “Huel has enjoyed a fantastic partnership with NDN so far, generating some significant sales since we began trading in September last year. The collaborative and supportive approach of the NDN team has been instrumental, making it easy to engage with their members and drive significant results. This successful collaboration underscores the strength of our partnership and reinforces NDN as a key distribution partner for Huel moving forward”.

Ryan Davies, Premier Foods, says: “Since we started trading in November last year, we have grown the business significantly. We have a good relationship with the team at NBC and thank them for their support in getting our products in front of their members.”

We thank everyone and look forward to working together in the new year.
