WN: Tell us about you…
Lamb Weston is a global provider of frozen potato products to foodservice and quick-service operators and retail worldwide. For more than 70 years, we have been a pioneer in the frozen potato industry, with innovative products such as Twisters, Potato Dippers and REALLY Crunchy Fries. We have a clear ambition on sustainability and continue to raise the bar in developing more sustainable ways to grow and process potatoes, such as adopting new varieties and regenerative production methods.
WN: Why should wholesalers stock your products?
Lamb Weston’s products stand out from the crowd, including our extensive range of fries with irresistible crispiness and extended holding time, superior quality and taste. Lamb Weston is highly valued by our many wholesale partners, and provides strong sales and marketing support for customers.
WN: What do you want wholesalers to know?
Wholesalers and foodservice customers are facing two key challenges: increased costs and decreased footfall. We are supporting wholesalers to ensure they have the right mix of price, range, product, placement and promotion.
We’re also supporting our foodservice customers, who are in a competitive and congested environment, by being creative to help them to stand out. We promote our range directly to chefs with suggestions for imaginative menus and we ensure wholesalers can support them to identify creative solutions.
WN: My one piece of advice for wholesalers would be…
Help operators to understand how adding a secondary potato on menu can deliver incrementality without detracting from the main fry.
As an example, by listing Twisters, they can offer nostalgia because, ‘childhood classics with grown-up elements appeal to nostalgia-seeking diners, with innovators taking old-school originals far beyond in terms of overall techniques and ingredients, still delivering the same comforting tastes and textures’ (Talking Trends: The New Wave of Nostalgia- Driven Comfort Food Innovators: eggsoldiers.co.uk).
